NDISAC DIB Security Engineering Summit Recap
Thank you to everyone who attended our first-ever National Defense Information Sharing and Analysis Center (NDISAC) Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Security Engineering Summit in December 2017. The summit brought together security operators, engineers, leaders and analysts to share concepts, configurations, and strategies for security infrastructures.
As one of our attendees explained, “The NDISAC DIB Security Engineering Summit had great in-depth, detailed discussion about architectures, security threats, and solutions.” Unlike many other conferences, the DIB Security Engineering Summit focused on high-level security topics in discussion based sessions. This gave attendees the opportunity to learn and strategize with peers about the different solutions, products, tools and security techniques working within their environment.
This trust-based summit was unique in the level of details shared between attendees. There was a lot of dialogue among organizations with diverse maturity and organizational operations, adding extreme value for all attendees.
Throughout the summit, major themes and topics were identified for future working groups or topic discussions. NDISAC will be working closely with attendees over the next several months to determine value in additional meetings and working groups on the following security topics:
- Baselining and Maturing Cyber Security Capabilities, Processes and Readiness
- Cloud Security
- Data Classification + DLP
- DFARS Compliance
- Insider Threat and Behavioral Analytics
- IOT/OT
- Linux Solutions
- Offline Solutions
- Social Media Security
- Splunk: Metrics + IR
- Supply Chain
- Tools and Best Practices
- VPS’s (always on), mobile
- Vulnerability Assessment Management
If you are interested in participating in a Working Group in any of the above workstream areas, send your interest and contact information to WorkingGroups@ndisac.org.
Additionally, we are starting initial planning for the next DIB Security Engineering Summit, taking place in the late spring or early summer of 2018. We will be covering topics as follows based on suggestions from the December 2017 summit, including:
